In the post-conflict tri-border area of Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania, a community of artisans joined forces within WomenCraft social entreprise to advance themselves and stimulate their local economies.
Reviving the basket weaving traditions of the region, they create hand-woven home decor that is beautiful, durable and sustainable.
The grasses and banana stalk used in production are cultivated locally and the fabrics are sourced from local markets.
All the profits from the sales are invested in social impact projects, which benefit the artisans, their families and communities in which they live.
